Wolds End Holiday Cottages in Rillington is the first project of its kind for Kent Building Developments Ltd, an award winning company specialising in the re-construction and renovation of buildings of this nature. Examples of other projects can be seen at www.kent-build.co.uk.

The holiday cottages are looked after and managed by Pam. Pam has extensive experience in caring, with her background in nursing and many years at a local children’s hospice looking after the parents as well as the children. Pam will ensure that your stay will be an experience to remember and hopefully we will see you again in the future.

Story and History of Rillington and Wolds End Holiday Cottages

Rillington is a pretty Yorkshire Wolds Village, close to the North York Moors. Traditionally it is an agricultural village with working farms still to be found in the village. Rillington gets its name from the Rill which still runs through the village and passes Wolds End Holiday Cottages, running down the side of Low Moorgate. There are two public houses within 5 minutes walk of Wolds End Holiday Cottages and a modern school off the High Street. The original village school closed in 1973 and is now used as the village hall. Behind is the Norman church of St Andrew, built between 1230 and 1250. The spire was added in 1400 and has been blown off four times, as well as being struck by lightning.

Exploring Malton and North Yorkshire

Nearby Malton is a quiet, undisturbed market town with a pretty market square. There are three Maltons, Roman Malton at Orchard Fields off the Old Malton road, Old Malton with pretty stone cottages and present day Malton. See some Roman artifacts in the museum off the market square. Malton has a history of racehorse training and today is still one of the most important horse training centres in the North of England. The stables and gallops surround this North Yorkshire market town.
